We are always finding ways to feed your child’s fascia with small movements.
Today, we are sharing with you our “hammock for the feet”. We’ve been using this for a while now and kids and moms love it.
The idea is simple! Take any elastic fabric (we are using something like lycra) and attach it to your child’s chair, to support the feet.
You can do it on the wheelchair or stroller, the highchair where your child eats, or any chair where your child spends some time.
If your child wears AFOs or any other orthosis, take them off.
What benefit does it bring?
It invites some small movements from the feet all the way to the hips. These movements will move the fluids inside bringing more nutrients to the tissues.
It gives a weight-bearing effect. As the fabric is elastic, it not only holds the weight of your child’s legs, but the fabric also provides a push back as a reverse weight-bearing along the legs.
It provides proprioceptive stimulation to the feet and legs.
