WeFlow Therapy is grounded in a biotensegrity perspective: the body is understood as a living, interconnected and prestressed system rather than a collection of isolated muscles and joints. From this perspective, lasting change is not created by forcing individual structures into position, but by changing the mechanical environment in which the tissues organize and adapt.
We use soft, viscoelastic tools as an interface between the therapist’s or parent’s hands and the body. The tool is not intended simply to cushion the contact or allow greater pressure. Its softness, shape and capacity to deform influence how a gentle mechanical input enters and is distributed through the fascial network.
Fascia is a hydrated, viscoelastic and cellular tissue. Changes in its mechanical environment can be sensed by cells through mechanotransduction, the process through which mechanical information influences cellular behaviour. With gentle, consistent and repeated input, these processes may support gradual changes in extracellular-matrix organization and the body’s distribution of tension and support.
Our goal is not to force change from the outside. It is to provide meaningful mechanical input that the living system can receive, respond to and gradually integrate.
Fascia and biotensegrity resources for therapists
A curated collection of courses, research, podcasts, and expert voices exploring how fascia, sensory input, and motor organization interact to support movement and development in children and adults with cerebral palsy and neuromuscular conditions.
Below, you will find a selection of resources to help you explore the principles that inform our work, including biotensegrity, fascia, soft-matter science, mechanotransduction and the use of soft viscoelastic materials as stress-transfer media.
